Karmic Vibes

It’s Giving: Karma, Taylor Swift, and Letting Go of the Bitterness

Let’s talk about karma—not just the concept, but the energy behind it. You know, the “Karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me” kind of vibe. (Thanks, Taylor, for the anthem we didn’t know we needed.) Whether you believe in cosmic justice, spiritual cause and effect, or just the plain ol’ power of energy exchange, karma is a concept that lives across cultures and belief systems. And honestly? It’s one I come back to often—personally and professionally.

As a therapist (and a millennial woman who’s lived through her fair share of heartbreaks, ghostings, and backstabbings), I’ve seen what happens when we carry around the weight of wanting someone else to get what they deserve. We stew. We stalk their socials. We replay the offense in our heads like a bad true crime documentary. And meanwhile? They’re probably out there living their life completely unaffected.

Here’s the thing: revenge, envy, resentment—they don’t punish the other person. They poison you.

Anger has its place. It can be fuel. It can be a boundary-setting tool. But when it simmers into bitterness, it becomes a slow-drip toxin in your system. You start losing your peace over someone who’s not even thinking about you. And that’s a loss you don’t need to take.

Karma—whether you see it as spiritual justice or energetic reciprocity—reminds us: what you put out, you get back. You don’t have to make anyone suffer. The universe (or life, or time) handles that on its own. And likewise, your peace, your healing, your growth? That’s your best revenge.

Let them underestimate you. Let them lie. Let them walk away.

Let them.

Because karma? She’s not just a relaxing thought. She’s a whole damn mindset.
