What “Let Them” Really Means
“Let Them.”
The catchphrase of 2025, courtesy of Mel Robbins—and honestly, a concept that feels both wildly simple and deeply uncomfortable.
Here’s what Let Them means to me.
Let them walk away.
Let them take space.
Let them heal in silence if that’s what they need.
Let them rest.
Let them do whatever they want—or feel they need to do.
Because it’s not about you.
I’ll say that again, because most people miss this part:
It’s not about you.
It’s about them.
If someone is “rejecting” you—even if they explicitly say something like, “I don’t want to be with you”—that is still about them. Their capacity. Their timing. Their fears. Their wounds. Their preferences. Their readiness.
Let them have their other options.
Let them explore.
Let them lose you.
That last one is hard for people to wrap their heads around. But if someone walks away from you, you’re not losing anything—they are.
And no, not in a conceited way. In a grounded, self-aware way. The kind where you know what you bring to the table and understand that not everyone gets a seat.
If someone doesn’t like the Michelin-rated meal you’re serving, let them go eat fast food instead.
Some people prefer quick. Convenient. Easy.
A situation where they feel in control.
No depth. No patience. No real investment.
Let them have it.
Because here’s the part people forget: Letting them frees you.
It frees you to choose what you prefer—which is likely someone who chooses you back. Someone who thinks you’re amazing. Someone who romances you, pursues you, cares about your feelings, and would be genuinely devastated at the thought of hurting you.
If someone isn’t giving you what your heart desires—and you know you deserve—let them go search for you in everyone else they meet.
They won’t find you again.
Because there is only one you.
You’re an original.
They won’t find someone better than you—but they might find someone better for them.
And again—let them.
There’s no need to hate.
No need to be angry.
No need to block, scream, spiral, or speak poorly of someone who simply chose a different path.
We’re all on our own journeys.
And life is hard enough without carrying resentment that doesn’t belong to us.
Let people live their lives.
Let them make their decisions.
Without begrudging them.
Without judging them.
Peace comes when you stop trying to control the outcome and trust that what walks away is creating space for what stays.
Because what’s truly meant to stay would never leave.
