Insomnia Vibes

I’m on a full health kick right now. No alcohol, eating clean, working out, early bedtime like a responsible adult who has her life together. And honestly? It feels really good.

Except… the sleep.

For the past few nights, I keep waking up. Not once. Not twice. Multiple times. Like something is tapping me on the shoulder saying, “hey… you up?” It’s subtle, but persistent. Hard to explain. Just enough to pull me out of sleep right when I’m getting comfortable.

So what do I do? Naturally, I put on sleepy history videos.

And now I’m falling asleep to things like Victorian-era beauty standards, the lives of 1950’s housewives, and 80’s supermodels running on black coffee and cigarettes. The topics are endless. Fascinating, honestly. Also slightly horrifying.

Because tell me why I’m lying there at 2am thinking about how I would have absolutely not survived the Victorian era… or how women were just casually expected to function on zero autonomy since the beginning of time… or how “wellness” once meant starvation and shoulder pads.

I think it’s helping me fall back asleep… but also? It might be keeping me up.

Either way, I love my sleep. Deeply. Passionately. And I would like it back now. I’m not sure if the planets are in the microwave again or I’m entering perimenopause, but the waking up at 12, 2, and 4 needs to chill out.

Until then, I’ll be over here. Wide awake, historically informed, and slightly concerned about my chances of surviving any other era besides this one.

Counting sheep,
LC
